Electrify America Increases Access to Solar-Powered Electric Vehicle Charging for Rural Californians
Thirty off-grid solar-powered charging stations now available for complimentary use in 24 cities across the state

Electrify America, the nation’s largest public ultra-fast charging network, has officially added 30 solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging stations with two Level 2 chargers each to its network in the state of California. The off-grid, standalone chargers are strategically located throughout the Central Valley and inland areas of Southern California, intended to provide greater access to sustainable EV charging for drivers in rural parts of the state.

City Of Montebello to Deploy Beam Global EV Charging Terminals

Beam Global has announced the City of Montebello, Calif., will deploy two EV ARC solar-powered EV charging terminals to serve city fleet vehicles and provide an emergency preparedness asset. The transportable solar-powered EV charging infrastructure products include an emergency power panel for first responders and are off-grid, requiring no construction, no disruption to city operations, no added utility bill, and providing a secure source of EV charging in the event of further utility grid interruptions.

Beam Global and Electrify America are Already Reinventing EV Charging

Most of the EV charging grid we currently employ is exactly that, a grid. And one that unfortunately relies on the preexisting methods of supplying electricity. And just as Tesla introduces a charger that has a few issues of its own, other companies like Electrify America and Beam Global, are working together to go beyond traditional methods.

Solar-Powered EV Chargers Go Where Grid-Tied Stations Can’t

While you can build a gas station pretty much anywhere zoning codes allow, electric vehicle fast-charging stations need to be placed in close proximity to dedicated service transformers to support their heavy draw from the grid. Access to that type of infrastructure isn’t always available in rural areas, which means that large swaths of California have few public charging stations, if there are any at all. Electrify America is filling in the service gaps with off-grid electric vehicle charging stations powered only by the sun.
