Senior Sales Executive—Energy Storage

Beam’s energy storage business unit in Chicago is home to Beam AllCell™ high-performance energy storage solutions that power micro-mobility, terrestrial EVs, aviation, maritime and recreational vehicles as well as stationery and energy-security platforms. Patented thermal management technologies are a competitive advantage for superior high-power lithium-ion battery systems that enable greater safety, longer life, and higher performance across all Li-ion chemistries and applications. Intellectual property and patents provide keen differentiation that is in high demand.

We seek a Senior Sales Executive for the energy storage business unit who will be based in the Beam Global Chicago or San Diego office.

Your Role

In this critical sales role, you bring a successful track record, relevant experience, technical chops and a love for selling. Enthusiasm and a passion for building a better future should come through in your approach. You will immediately step into some active prospects in the pipeline but your focus should be on developing new business based on prioritized strategic segments. You will identify sales opportunities, develop relationships with prospects and stakeholders, establish customer needs and demonstrate our solutions to win customers’ business. You will work with a dedicated sales engineer, when required, to ensure rapid pipeline progress and conversion.

This role will require the management of numerous large revenue opportunities across a variety of exciting emerging industries including micro mobility, electric watercraft, electric aviation, robotics and stationary energy storage solutions. These are hot markets where a mission-driven mindset is essential to get the big deals we target done. Experience in energy storage, similar technical solutions, or renewable energy sales and an extensive network in industries that use energy storage products are strongly preferred. If you are a focused, creative, independent seller who can manage a variety of high value opportunities in a high-growth, technical business, you will thrive in this role.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Meet and exceed individual sales targets
  • Aggressively pursue new business opportunities in select prioritized vertical segments
  • Qualify and develop new business opportunities from outbound/inbound calls, leads, general prospecting and email outreach
  • Quickly identify opportunity fit based on the customer’s value proposition fit, development capabilities and budget cycles
  • Own part of an already-active pipeline of prospects at various stages in the buying cycle
  • Maintain customer relationships, and present product offerings and development roadmaps
  • Break down technical terminology to non-technical clients
  • Stay updated on competing products and how to sell against them
  • Approach each account with a laser focused account strategy
  • Maintain pipeline of opportunities in CRM software, including forecasting
  • Use state-of-the-art sales tools to scale your outreach and success
  • Co-develop selling strategies for target markets
  • Provide input into internal product development strategy based on customer feedback and win/loss metrics from the sales process

What You Bring

  • 5-7 years successful experience in technical sales, preferably in energy storage, energy thermal management or renewable energy
  • High EQ with the ability to connect with buyers and guide them through a technical buying cycle
  • Strong technical understanding of energy storage applications, regulatory, certification, and performance requirements and how they impact the customer is desired
  • Highly persuasive and a natural collaborator
  • A history of success in developing, driving and closing business and achieving targets
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent written communication skills with a professional ‘no-typos’ polish
  • Excellent social and presentation skills
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and hands-on, while keeping the big picture top of mind
  • Up to 25% travel may be required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent minimum; technical degree a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver on commitments
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM systems
