Upcoming – Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global, to Speak at CIACC 2025European University of the Atlantic, Santander · Spain, 1, 2 and 3 July 2025
Desmond Wheatley will present during Session 6 on Thursday, 3 July 2025, from 15:00 to 16:00.
What will we talk about in this session?
Sustainable construction seeks to reduce the environmental impact of buildings, contributing to the fight against climate change and creating healthy and efficient spaces. This practice promotes the use of low-impact materials and green technologies, generating jobs in sustainable sectors and demonstrating the environmental commitment of companies.
In addition to providing comfort and safety, sustainable construction reduces the impact on the environment throughout the life of the building, from construction to demolition. It focuses on the use of local materials, energy efficiency, water and waste management, and the use of renewable resources. Certifications such as LEED and BREEAM assess the sustainability of buildings, considering factors such as the environment, resource management, air quality, energy efficiency and the well-being of users, promoting a holistic approach to responsible construction.
These differences mean that the risks derived from climate change are different. The impacts of recent climate-related extreme events, such as heat waves, droughts, floods, cyclones, and forest fires, highlight the significant vulnerability and exposure of some ecosystems and many human systems to current climate variability.

Under his leadership, Beam Global has been a benchmark in the integration of renewable solutions for electric mobility, promoting sustainable development models without the need for grid connection or emissions generation, for example with solutions such as BeamWell™, a self-sufficient and autonomous operating system that supplies drinking water, electricity and e-mobility to areas lacking infrastructure but in need of water and electricity, or BeamSpot™, a sustainable solution for charging electric vehicles on the pavement that integrates with the street lighting and e-mobility infrastructure, electricity and e-mobility to areas that lack infrastructure but need water and electricity, or BeamSpot™, a sustainable curbside electric vehicle charging solution that integrates with the street lighting infrastructure and responds to the growing demand for electric vehicle charging in city centres. This also makes use of wind energy. Another example is BeamPatrol™, a law enforcement patrol station that provides stealth electric motorbikes, with off-grid charging and 100% renewable energy emergency power to provide security. Beam Global’s approach thus combines technological innovation with social impact.
Desmond has raised over $500 million in capital markets and is the author of multiple patents related to solar energy and electric vehicle infrastructure. He has led successful business transformation and global expansion and is a frequent speaker on innovation, sustainability and responsible leadership.
