Technical Field Service Engineer

Position Summary:

The Technical Field Service Engineer will provide remote and occasional on-site support for Beam Global’s EV ARC and other Beam products. Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and predictive/preventative maintenance to support a variety of customer applications across North America and worldwide.  This individual will be an independent, customer-facing technical application engineer. This role requires a self-motivated, results-oriented professional with a strong technical aptitude and a passion to succeed.  The ideal candidate will have a collaborative spirit which will align successfully in the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, professional resolutions to customer technical questions and issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues by diagnosing root causes and providing effective solutions.
  • Execute field service processes and procedures for equipment installation, start-up, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide feedback to product and engineering teams on product gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Document systematic learnings so that they can be leveraged in our Customer Knowledge Bases.
  • Complete onsite diagnostics and repairs of units at customer sites.
  • Responsible for developing and reviewing documentation for training materials, technical marketing collateral, manuals, problem solving guides, etc. 
  • Provide on-call support for external customers, external technicians, and internal technicians.
  • Available during off shift hours when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or similar.
  • Ability to analyze system and network diagnostics to clearly articulate issues to customers and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to parse and analyze system logs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • 5 + years of experience as a Field Service Specialist or Technician.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Experience using field service management tools and software.
  • Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction, and work as part of a team.
  • May require climbing of staircases and access ladders, working at heights, in tight spaces, outdoors in hot and cold weather, and lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Field work that may require wearing and working in appropriate safety gear.
  • Ability to carry service bag (25-50 lbs.), laptop case/caddy, as well as other trade tools.
  • Can negotiate and navigate airports, airports concourses, and parking garages.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience using NetSuite or SalesForce.
  • Proficiency in Linux and terminal commands.
  • Experience in troubleshooting power electronics circuitry desirable.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings/schematics.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar inverters, or EV charging is desirable but not required.
