Envision Solar’s EV ARC™ Product Powers Disaster Preparedness Field Training Exercise at Moffett Federal Airfield

SAN DIEGO, CA–(MarketWired – June 06, 2017) – Envision Solar International, Inc., (OTCQB: EVSI) (“Envision Solar,” or the “Company”), the leading renewably energized EV charging, outdoor media and energy security products company, announced that its EV ARC™ product will be utilized in a field training exercise for disaster preparedness at Moffett Federal Airfield in Santa Clara County taking place this week. The Company’s EV ARC™ will provide both solar-powered EV charging and a reliable and secure source of the emergency power needed during utility grid outages, terrorist attacks, fires, earthquakes, hurricanes or other disasters.

The Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA), California Disaster Medical Services Association (CAL-MAT), Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and the California National Guard will be taking part in the exercise, which will be a simulated response to a 7.3 magnitude earthquake — taking place along the Hayward fault. Envision Solar’s EV ARC™ product will be deployed with the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and will power defibrillators, ventilators, computers and other vital infrastructure.

“Locally generated and locally stored energy is an absolutely essential part of disaster preparedness,” said Envision Solar CEO Desmond Wheatley. “When a blackout, a natural disaster or another catastrophic event strikes, EV ARCs will provide emergency power to first responders and potentially save peoples’ lives.”

EV ARC™ units are already providing emergency power capabilities to New York City, CALTRANS and several counties and cities in the US. The EV ARC™ product is the only EV charging solution which generates and stores its own electricity and which is rapidly deployable and transportable. Typical installations take less than 15 minutes which is another significant value proposition for first responders, emergency services and disaster response teams. Unlike traditional generators, EV ARC™ products do not require fuel and as such are a more secure source of electricity during prolonged grid outages.

According to the Berkeley National Laboratory, EPRI and the US Department of Energy estimate power outages to cost the US between $26B and $400B annually. The Yale Environmental Review cites a Johns Hopkins University study which attributes 90 deaths to the August 2003 North East Blackout. Locally generated and stored electricity provides a robust defense against these sorts of impacts.

Invented and manufactured in California, the EV ARC™ fits inside a parking space and generates enough clean, solar electricity to power up to 225 miles of EV driving in a day. The system’s solar electrical generation is enhanced by EnvisionTrak™ which causes the array to follow the sun, generating up to 25% more electricity than a fixed array. The energy is stored in the EV ARC™ product’s energy storage for charging day or night and to provide emergency power during a grid failure. Because the EV ARC™ product requires no trenching, foundations or installation work of any kind, it is deployed in minutes and can be moved to a new location with ease. EV ARC™ products are manufactured in the Company’s San Diego facility by combat veterans, the disabled, minorities and other highly talented, mission-driven team members.
